UK Women are Suffering in Silence as concern around HRT and Cancer Link Heightens

New research shows 80% of menopausal women in the UK are not being offered alternatives to HRT - as a result 66% are left to suffer in silence.

The survey, carried out through Yours.co.uk in association with Phyto Soya, reveals a staggering lack of alternative menopause treatments and information being offered to women by their GPs.

47% of UK women were prescribed HRT when visiting their Health Care Practitioner with menopausal symptoms, yet half of all women who were originally prescribed HRT admitted they had stopped treatment due to concerns about long term health. .

In response to this new research, Phyto Soya, the experts in clinically proven natural menopause treatments, are announcing their commitment to campaign for proven natural alternative options to be recommended by GPs and
available on the NHS After all, over 80% of women surveyed wanted to see more natural options available on prescription.  In the first instance Phyto Soya are launching an online petition to gather support for the campaign:

Whilst hot flushes and night sweats were the most commonly reported symptoms, affecting over 70% of respondents, the psychological effects are just as troublesome. 7 out of 10 women experience mood swings and up to 60% suffer from sleep disturbances and feel overly emotional.

It seems that when it comes to looking for information on dealing with the menopause and advice on treatments, a worryingly high 59% were not satisfied with their initial consultation with their Healthcare Professional. Over half said they would have liked more information on all the options available.

Dr Sarah Brewer, a private GP and specialist in nutritional medicine comments:

³It does concern me to see statistics like these as it means that many women out there are being given limited options to keep the unpleasant symptoms of the menopause in check.  HRT is just one answer but is not a route all women want to take. There are clinically proven natural supplements to help address falling oestrogen levels. It is a real shame that this recommendation isn¹t coming more often from a GP or nurse practitioner people who have looked after their medical needs all their lives.²

Menopause Symptoms:
The unpleasant symptoms of the menopause are caused by falling oestrogen levels. Soya isoflavones are natural phytoestrogens extracted from plants that are comparable to oestrogen. Phyto Soya is a natural food supplement based on a soya extract that is particularly rich in isoflavones. Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness and safety of Phyto Soya. Studies conducted in 2002 and 2007 published in Menopause, the official journal of North American Menopause Society, confirmed that Phyto Soya is the ³only standardized soya extract product that has proved its clinical efficacy on pre-menopausal and menopausal women².

Studies showed that three quarters of women who sampled Phyto Soya found it to be effective in reducing the symptoms of menopause.

Phyto Soya can be used:

  • As soon as the first disorders appear during the pre-menopause (hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, etc.)
  • When hot flushes persist in the menopause
  • When you can no longer, or do not want to, take HRT (for fear of side-effects, preference for a natural therapy, etc.)
  • When there are contraindications to HRT.

Natural Phyto Soya products are available from Boots, Holland & Barratt and all good independent Pharmacies and Health Stores nationwide. All Phyto Soya products contain an exclusive extract rich in soya isoflavones making them aviable natural solution to help relieve common menopausal symptoms.
